Our President fancies himself a great builder in his projects around the Capitol, but “renovation” is the wrong descriptor, “Retrograde” is more accurate: he promotes classical Greek architecture, the decor of the White House is that of America’s Gilded Age, his Triumphal Arch is a knock-off of Napoleon’s in Paris, his ballroom addition attempts to mirror Versailles and the extravagant taste of Louis XIV, and ICE is law enforcement acting in imitation of the Ku Klux Klan. HIs remake of the American dream is more that of an aging tomcat scent marking his domain–“all this is mine”. That 30% of the public still believe these are true images of American Greatness is far more than “Sad, so sad.”
